Introduction
When you think of Subaru, you might be thinking of performance vehicles or even just a hatchback and that is somewhat of what we have here today it is somewhat hatchback and it is somewhat performance this is the Subaru Ascent the Onyx limited trim and today we’re going to take a look at it and see what it has to offer and see where it stacks up against some of that competition in this midsize three-row SUV segment let’s take a look.

Front End Design
Going relatively unchanged this midcycle refresh we have a nice aggressive look to the front end design with these nice gloss black accents with nice black plastic flowing from the front end all the way to the back.
Grille and Air Flow
Now starting off with this gloss black grill there is kind of a separation here between this bar and the Subaru logo on the bottom half. The air flows through cooling off your radiator and oil cooler.
Additional Protection
On the top half, we have air ducts going to your top mount intercooler that is mounted on top of your engine, so any rocks or debris do not damage your intercooler.
Skid Plates
There are no metal skid plates, although this model does come with all-wheel drive standard and dual function X mode.
Exterior Features
Wheels and Tires
Subaru went ahead and equipped the Onyx trim and up with 20-in wheels. We have this nice black finish 20-inch wheel on our Onyx limited.
Body Accents
Taking a look at the side of the Ascent, those black accents carry on from the front down the side all the way to the rear of the vehicle.
Interior Design
First Row Comfort
In the front, you’re going to find 41.3 inches of headroom and 42.2 inches of legroom.
Seating
The driver’s seat is a 10-way power adjustable seat with four-way power lumbar support.
Additional Seat Adjustments
The passenger seat is a four-way power adjustable seat, but without lumbar support.
Performance and Safety
Engine
Under the hood, we have a 2.4L turbocharged 4-cylinder producing 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque all the way from 2000 RPM to 4800 RPM.
Transmission
This engine is paired to a CVT transmission with all-wheel drive standard across the lineup.
Fuel Efficiency
This engine and transmission combo gets you 26 MPG highway and 20 MPG in the city.
Conclusion
The Subaru Ascent offers a solid balance of performance, safety, and style, making it a strong contender in the midsize SUV segment.

Subaru Ascent Review | Subie’s Super-Sized Three Row Outback Is The Un-Highlander
when you think of Subaru you might be thinking of performance vehicles or even just a hatchback and that is somewhat of what we have here today it is somewhat hatchback and it is somewhat performance this is the Subaru Ascent the Onyx limited trim and today we’re going to take a look at it and see what it has to offer and see where it Stacks up against some of that competition and this midsize three row SUV segment let’s take a look going relatively unchanged this midcycle refresh we have a nice
aggressive look to the front end design with these nice gloss black accents with nice black plastic flowing from the front end all the way to the back now starting off with this gloss black grill there is kind of a separation here between this bar and the Subaru logo on the bottom half the air flows through cooling off your radiator and oil cooler things of that nature and then on the top half we have air ducts going to your top mount intercooler that is mounted on top of your engine that’s nice so if any
rocks or any debris get through your grill it does not damage your intercooler and go ahead and cost you more money to fix that and we’ll take a look at that here when we talk about the engine down below we do have functional passrs here as well as led fog lights and those are standard on the Onyx and up and then for the headlights we do have a semi LED headlight we have LED projector headlights that are steering response of the steering response of LED headlights are standard on all trims of the ascent as well as led drls but our
turn signals are incadescent last thing I want to touch on on the front end of the ascent is the fact that we do not have any metal skid plat plates underneath even though this does come with all-wheel drive standard dual function X mode as well as in of ground clearance there are no steel or aluminum skip plates as an option from Subaru there are aftermarket companies that sell those but you will have to do that after the fact of buying the vehicle now in terms of off-road spec it does have in of approach angle so
if you want to utilize that number go ahead but just keep in mind there is no skid plates underneath the vehicle in order to complement the size of the ascent subar went ahead and equipped the onyxx trim and up with in Wheels now we have this nice black finish -in wheel on our Onyx limited but if you wanted a little bit smaller wheel and some more sidewall in case you wanted to go off-road or you’re afraid of curbing that wheel you can go with the base or the premium where the -inch wheel is an option I love these wheels because it
keeps that black accent kind of finish going from the front end all the way down the side to the rear of the vehicle keeping that theme of just a nice Sleek sporty look going throughout the vehicle taking a look at the side of the ascent those black accents Carry On from the front down the side all the way to the rear of the vehicle with that black plastic that flows around along the wheel arches and down on the lower skirt of the vehicle we have gloss black mirror caps with integrated LED and Camera underneath for your surround View
Camera as well as these nice black roof rails that come standard on all Ascent trims now touching on these we do have a lb static load rating so you have plenty of weight to work with in terms of what you’re going to put on your roof if you wanted to put a rooftop tent some kayaks a canoe whatever it may be you have lb to work with now in terms of Dimensions work kind at
k care rear and for the width of the vehicle in for the height of the vehicle from the ground to the top of the roof rail is going to be in and for the weight of this vehicle this is going to be one of the more option trims it’s going to be a little bit heavier than most at lb now as I mentioned before the ground clearance is sitting at
in but again I want to reiterate that you do not have skid plates anywhere underneath this vehicle so if you utilize that ground clearance just remember to be careful on your approach as well as your departure in the rear of the ascent you’re going to find an LED combination tailight so our blinker as well or reverse light are going to be incandescent but your brake light is going to be led we have another LED third brake light up here integrated into your gloss black spoiler power windshell wiper gloss black bar giv that
nice black accent going across the liftgate and then we have black badges for the ascent Onyx Subaru and all-wheel drive badges everything is blacked out giv that nice Sleek stealth look throughout the vehicle now down below for safety we do have parking sensors integrated into this black plastic down below we also have a camera underneath this gloss black bar going across the tailgate and the camera is standard across all Ascent trims but the surround View Camera that this vehicle is equipped with is only going to be on the
onx limited and up but optional on The Limited trim now in terms of what this black plastic looks like down here is portioned off into three sections this middle section pops out and that is where you’re going to put your class two hitch receiver if you wanted to go that route and take advantage of your lb toe capacity now if you wanted to buy your hitch receiver that is going to have to be purchased after the fact which is going to be just about $for that accessory so if you wanted to take advantage of your toe capacity that that
will be an extra $that you cannot purchase at the time of purchasing the vehicle that is a dealer accessory in terms of safety Subaru has you covered with their newest version of Subaru eyesight this is a three camera system that not only controls your adaptive cruise control and if I said radar cruise control earlier forgive me but is an adaptive cruise control system with Lane centering this also has pre-collision assist pre-collision braking Lane departure and sway warning as well as Auto emergency braking if
needed and that is standard across all trims of the Subaru Ascent as well as your beam assist where it turns your high beams off if there’s another car coming and turns them back on when you are alone on a dark road now not only do we have the subar iite we also have distraction mitigation that I’ll talk about here when we get into the inside as well as blind spot detection with rear cross traffic alert that is on every trim except for the base as well as the reverse Auto braking that is on premium trim and up from there so with
that being said Subaru definitely has you covered in all facets of safety but if you do go higher up in the trim levels you will get just a few more safety features that you won’t in lower trim under the hood we have a L turbocharged cylinder producing horsepower and lb fet of torque all the way from all the way up to RPM now this is the faturbo motor same as what they use in the outback XT this engine is paired to a CVT transmission with all-wheel drive standard across the lineup so this
engine and transmission combo gets you Highway and MP gallon in the city here in the front you’re going to find in of Headroom and in of leg room if you go ahead and get a trim level that does not have the moonroof you will get about an inch more of Headroom if you are looking for that now the moonroof does come standard in this Onyx limited it is on all onx trims as well as the touring and optional on The Limited trim as for seat Comfort it is fairly comfortable it is a -way power adjustable driver seat with four-way
power Lumbar and two position memory over in the passenger seat you have four-way power adjustable seats with no lumbar which is a downside in my personal opinion I would love to have power lumbar over there especially if I am riding passenger you do have an extendable seat bottom here if you pull this Le lever in the middle you do extend out giving you some more support for those longer drives go ahead and put that back in I do find these seats fairly comfortable I wish they had a little bit more bolster but as this is
not a sports a sports car oriented vehicle I understand why they don’t put more bolster but when you are doing any spirited driving in this horsepower vehicle you are going to kind of slide around just a tad bit but overall fairly comfortable seats you have this nice contrast stitching it’s a green contrast stitching against these gray syntax water repellent upholstery seats if you wanted to go for Quality leather you’re going to go up to the touring where you get that Nappa leather trim seats now
overall Comfort I am ‘I can get in a nice comfortable driving position and this is a manual adjustable uh tilting and telescoping wheel I actually don’t mind these it’s sometimes faster just to do it yourself and you can have just a little bit more adjustability in where you position that wheel in the second row there is plenty of space to be had and plenty of amenities to be enjoyed for our leg room back here we’re looking at at in and for head room
like I mentioned in the front if you get a trim level that does not have the moon roof you will gain a little bit of head room if you need that as far as comfort back here you can get into a nice comfortable position slide forward or backwards depending on where this person is in the front seat and if you have anybody behind you to accommodate them you can slide this seat forward nobody’s back there you can go ahead and hit the recline lever here and get into a nice comfortable position look out of that
panoramic moon roof and look at the stars or the sun depending on what you’re liking is but you do have vents back here if you do get cold or warm trizone climate control in the ascent so you do have two zones up front and one in the second row controlling the second and third row so you can turn that temperature up turn it down but if your buck gets cold you also have heated seats on these captain seats back here again this is the seven seat configuration if it’s eight it will be a bench seat but since this is seven we do
have these nice captain seats back here again you have an armrest over here on the side of the vehicle on the side of the seat sorry so you can position that wherever you like fold that away storage in the seat back right here and if you do have any cups or any drinks back here there is cup holders of Plenty back here you have one on the top of your door panel here and three down below and that is the same on the passenger side and if that’s not enough for you we have two more cup holders down here right below
your climate controls
you go ahead and utilize those there is cup holders total in this vehicle now if you’re back here and you don’t want to see anybody outside of the vehicle you do have privacy Shades or sun shades on each side of the vehicle let me pop over here to the passenger side and go ahead and demonstrate pop that up I will say it’s not the easiest to get those on but you do have these privacy Shades that you can put up nice green contrast stitching flowing from the front all the way to the rear of the
vehicle and again you have cup holders up here on the door panel and down below near the bottom of the door so there is plenty of amenities back here to keep it comfortable and if you need to charge any your devices you have two charging ports back here one USBC as well as one usba and that is it for charging ports back here if you go up to the touring you will get an outlet back here on the center console charging area now that I’m squeeze into this third row let’s talk about how much space is back here
so for head room we’re looking at in and for leg room I am ‘so I am on the bigger side of someone that is going to be sitting back here it’s definitely going to be more catered towards kids or young adults that are smaller than t for sure but if I go ahead and try to sit back here I have the seat all the way reclined as far as possible I can fit my feet underneath this second row which is a nice feature but my knees are going to be bashing into the seat and also I have to hunch over to be able
to fit if this was for a short trip there’s no problem I could easily squeeze back here if need be but for anything longer than about minutes I definitely would not recommend if you are over I’d say about ‘it will be very tough to fit back here comfortably but this is going to be catered towards more towards kids so the third row is definitely usable if you do have kids of your own now in terms of amenities and this third row you do have speakers on each side you have two cup holders on the driver side and three cup holders on
the passenger side part of those cup holders total cup holders that’s insane total cup holders in this vehicle two on the driver side three on the passenger side speakers on each side and you also on the passenger side you have two USBC ports amps with some more storage where you can put a phone or anything of that sort on the driver side there is no charging ports but there’s two on the passenger side for any of those needs now there is also what’s called cabin connect which is a at the push of a button in the driver’s
seat you can go ahead and push the button talk and it’ll project your voice all the way to the rear speakers in the third seat now as far as HVAC controls you do have trizone climate so you have that second row control but you also have air vents all the way to the third row as well as interior lights in this third row so that’s a nice feature as well keep the people on the third row comfortable and make it so it’s not so claustrophobic if you are a bigger person and for total passenger volume it’s going to be cubic feet for
the moon roof or any trims that have the moon roof and if you don’t have it you’re going to look at cubic feet of total passenger volume now in terms of cargo space in the back of the ascent is going to vary depending on whether or not your trim comes standard with a panoramic moon roof the Onyx limited does however come standard with that so we do have a little bit less cargo space than if it did not so behind the third row
cubic feet if we go ahead and fold down this /folding rear seat we go ahead pull this lever on the top of the seat fold these down we are going to get cubic feet of storage a fairly flat rear cargo storage but if we did not have that moon roof now for second row if we fold those down we do get and
without that moonroof so is quite a bit of storage but it’s definitely not class leading storage now however we do have more storage underneath this rear floor this is where our rear cargo slide cover is going to be located but you can take that out store in your garage if you do not want it and you have this nice corrugated plastic that is going to be able to hold more things over here we do have a vt outlet as long alongside a incadescent cargo light there and on this side you are going to notice that we do have a subwo for part of our Harmon Cardon
speaker nearly WT sound system that is standard for the Onyx limited taking a closer look at the interior you can see that we do have this light colored headliner that complements the darkness of the lower interior nicely kind of breaking up that dark feel now you can see we have two different colors of gray we have a lighter gray and a darker gray and the contrast stitching is found on all the dark gray portions of the Interior again that contrast green stitching going across from the seats door panel and onto the dashboard over
here on the passenger side we do have a nice little cubby here that flows from the dash all the way over to the door down below we do have a glove box that is felt line so that is nice but it definitely isn’t the biggest out there but it’s big enough for your manual as well as a couple other things in terms of materials we do have this simulator leather trim where this contrast stitching is found throughout the vehicle pretty much everywhere that green stitching is going to be is going to be your simulated leather up on the
dashboard this is a nice soft touch padded material and then over here flowing across the dashboard we do have our driver attention system here that I’ll talk about here in just a second when we power up the vehicle down below we have this in infotainment system with the volume and two knob on each side with your climate controls physical buttons which is a nice touch because most of it’s controlled on the screen but it does give you uh heat up and cool down over here in physical button form down below we do have a nice little
cubby there is no wireless charging in here that is an optional thing that you can uh Equip to your vehicle while specking it out you have your surround view camera button here press that and that will bring up your camera system whether you’re going forward or backwards and an ox Port three amp USBC and
amp usba piano black found down here on the gear selector as well as uper around the vents near the center display electronic parking brake and illuminated cup holders which is a nice touch there’s a nice rubber material in here and then around the perimeter of the cup holder bottom those are illuminated when you turn the vehicle on now that we have the vehicle powered on we can go ahead and see this nice crisp looking display this is the
in infotainment screen and this does have navigation built in as is the Onyx limited trim you do get the navigation included nice colorful crisp looking screen there is a little bit of lag but it’s nothing too bad and it definitely is fairly consistent which is nice it doesn’t lag sometimes and is quick the other times if we go ahead and go to our carplay you can see really the true colors when in our screens go ahead and go back there and then you do not have a digital dash you have an analog Dash here your uh gauge cluster so you have a
analog speedometer as well as tachometer and then in the middle you can see that we do have this LCD display now usually when you start up the vehicle it’ll say scanning for uh driver eyes and I’ll show you that here when we start driving I’ll show you what that means and that is all controlled up here with this sensor up here on the center of the dash on the steering wheel fairly simple setup we do have your cruise control settings here on the right and your track forward and back as well as scrolling up and down in your menu here

on the left volume up and down and then down here you can see that we do have our heated steering wheel button this does have the all- weather package you have heated steering wheel heated mirrors as well as heated seats that you control from the screen right here now even though this is a CVT transmission you do have paddle shifters or simulated paddle shifters back here behind the steering wheel going up and going down and again like I mentioned analog gaug is there with that LCD in the Middle where you can control some of your
settings and just see general information down here on the left you do have your rear hatch open on the far left you go ahead and press this button and all the interior lights turn on on the second and third row and this is how you control the brightness of your displays up and down there a little bit of storage here off to the left as well as your trip reset button here right behind your uh indicator lever right there and we do have a nice amount of vents again this is a trizone climate control so you do have one zone for the
driver one zone for the passenger and then another zone for the second row your center console is a nice padded area with this nice contrast stitching on each side of it you go ahead and pop that open and we do have a nice and deep center console there felt line there is no lights or Chargers inside we do have this nice little inlay here that is felt lined as well where you can put all of your spare change in whatever loose items you want right there we can just close that right up now since this vehicle comes all-wheel drive standard
you do get Subaru’s X mode that is standard across all trims of the Subaru Ascent but since this is the Onyx limited you do get the dual function X mode where you can control that going over here to your vehicle controls go to x mode and not only do we get snow and dirt we also get deep snow and and mud so this is available on the Onyx The Limited Onyx limited and the two ring trims where you get the dual function X mode everything else is just going to be the standard X mode now up top you are going to have your controls for your
panoramic moon roof so this is your shade control as well as whether you open or close the sunroof itself now right here is going to be a sunglass holder so you have space to store sunglasses or anything that you want to store up there but if you go ahead and just close it halfway that will just stay right there and that way you can keep an eye on your kids it’s a little bit more wide angle than your beer here so you go ahead and pop that open and you can keep an eye on your crazy kids in the back seats now as I mentioned
this does have that distraction avoidance system that is up here on the middle of the dashboard and what that is is it has a sensor that reads your eyes when you first get into the vehicle it scans for your eyes and there’s a little icon that pops up on that LCD in your gauge cluster and it just scans for your eyes and once it locks on it welcomes you to the car and it just kind of stays locked onto your eyes while driving that way if you do end up being distracted looking down at your phone or looking away out of the vehicle it does notice
that you aren’t paying attention and gives you a little bit of a beep and also a logo that comes up on that little LCD that says hey let’s focus on the road dude all right let’s go ahead and give it a shot so looking away side of my eye if I stay like this that icon just stays up on the dash then if I look back it goes right away it notices my eyes and it goes right away let’s talk about how this vehicle drives so starting off with the performance of the Subaru Ascent this Onyx limited trim there is only that one
engine option for the ascent the L turbocharged cylinder horsepower and lb of torque is anything to scoff at especially in this vehicle because it does utilize that power well now usually I would say that CVT transmissions aren’t necessarily my favorite transmission I’d personally much rather have a geared transmission kind of like some of its counterparts inside this three row midsize SUV segment like the T Ride Like the Honda Pilot that has a -speed transmission but the CVT paired with this engine
actually isn’t too bad of a package I do find that it utilizes the power well down low it definitely has a lot to be desired it it’s really dead at the bottom and then once you hit that like RPM where that torque kicks in you do start start to feel it pull as it should now the CVT definitely takes some time to catch up to the input from the pedal so if you are flooring it it does take a second to kind of catch and then once it does you do feel that torque all the way from that to RPM so
for my to rating I got seconds and that was the best I could get it was a little bit wet out but there was no tire slip it really is just me pushing the pedal as hard as I can and it going all the way to in seconds let’s call it so it’s definitely not anything to write home about definitely not the fastest time I wish I could get out of a Subaru Ascent but with this engine and transmission package it does make sense that it is near that second Mark but overall performance to for

everyday driving isn’t too bad in my personal opinion this isn’t a sports car this isn’t something that’s going to get you to fast and Corner super well but we’ll talk about cornering here in just a second now in terms of performance let’s talk about how it stops to I was unable to test the to yesterday because it was very very rainy and I did not want to risk any weird situation where I was sliding or anything like that but let’s talk about how the brakes feel when you are
doing a little bit of Spirited driving testing out the capabilities of the vehicle you do find that those brakes fade just a tad bit when you are applying them in heavy doses but when you are just daily driving like I’m doing now just cruising on the road mph coming up to a stoplight or something pushing on the brake it’s very confidence inspiring in those situations the pedal isn’t grabby at all at the top of the pedal like some vehicles are especially some hybrids um it definitely you definitely feel the weight in the
braking system this is Alb car right up there with the likes of the Telly ride or the pilot that are around that same weight so it’s definitely not a light vehicle but in the handling portion I’m going to talk about here in a second you definitely feel like you are in a lighter vehicle than you are it’s not too bad it’s definitely not a performance oriented braking system but that is to be given for the fact that this is a passenger all-wheel drive just a family touring Adventure vehicle
as it is so as I mentioned this is a heavy vehicle but it doesn’t handle like a heavy vehicle because it does have that torque vectoring system that breaks that inner wheel when turning so if you are turning right it will break the right side wheel to kind of hunker down that side and eliminate body roll and help it power through a corner it definitely handles like it is a lighter vehicle but at lb like I mentioned this is right up there with the Telly ride and Honda Pilot in terms of weight so definitely isn’t a small vehicle it
looks small because you’re used to seeing a Subaru hatchback like an Outback or a cross Trek similar likes to those like in terms of styling but it’s just on a bigger scale so it looks like a super sized Outback or something something of that nature but overall lb vehicle it handles pretty well especially with that torque vectoring system and like you see right now I’m going down this little Canyon Road right here and it’s very Nimble the steering is super light you do have that electronic power steering and it’s very
very light and it just Corners real nicely and you don’t feel a lot of body roll even at slower speeds like this now at higher speeds you do feel a tad bit of body roll but it’s nothing like you would find in a conventional three SUV that is of a bigger stature and doesn’t have a torque vectoring system but standard all-wheel drive definitely gets you through corners especially if it’s wet or snowy and overall handling is pretty decent in this vehicle now in terms of everyday driving you’re really
not going to be testing out the capabilities of the handling on an everyday basis what you are going to be utilizing every second you are driving this vehicle is the ride quality so let’s talk about that here for a second now this is a fairly soft suspension vehicle but it is paired with those -in wheels so when you do find yourself hitting a powle or any imperfections in the road you do feel it and is a tad bit jarring now I don’t have an -in wheel variant of the ascent to test side by side but I would
assume that having a smaller wield maybe just a little bit more sidewall would help cushion the blow over a pahle or those cracks because here in the Pacific Northwest with our Springs and our summers and all this crazy weather that we get up here yes we do get rain we also get ice and snow and very hot days we have a lot of imperfections on the road so I’ve been able to test out how this vehicle handles adversity in the road surface so overall I’m going to rank this A B minus on a grading scale for the overall ride quality I do find
it pleasant when you are just cruising on a smooth road I don’t find anything um too alarming in in like the handling aspect or the ride quality aspect the next thing I’m going to talk about is going to be the cabin noise because that goes right alongside with the ride quality is the interior cabin noise now this does have a pan panoramic moon roof sorry and that does allow a little bit of noise in but I don’t find it to be anything that’s like overbearing I don’t really hear any uh mirror noise the
outside mirror noise like you hear on some vehicles that have a more Square uh structure to their mirror I don’t find too much noise there what I do hear mostly at lower speeds is tire noise now these do have fairly large tires on them so you are going to hear just a tad bit noise and they are all season so they’re going to be a little bit more aggressive than your um typical summer Tire or anything like that you might find on a vehicle in a warmer climate that doesn’t need that allseason capability but
overall interior cabin noise isn’t too bad I measured the inside deciel reading the max decel reading at Mi an hour was DB is what I got yesterday and yesterday there was water on the road so keep that in mind it could uh make it just a little bit more noisy but I definitely don’t think it’s more than a decel reading off of what it would be if it was dry out but overall D is not too shabby now last thing I want to touch on is the fuel economy now Subaru does not offer a hybrid powertrain for
the Subaru Ascent so you do not get an option for a different type of Powertrain like some of the competitors in this market do like the Toyota High llander so there’s no option for even greater fuel economy this is going to be the worst fuel economy you get in the ascent lineup the lower trims do get just a sco better miles per gallon in the grand scheme of things but overall m per gallon combined isn’t too shabby for the size of vehicle the type of utility you can pull off with this vehicle having seven people or eight
people in tow lb on the roof and also Towing up to lb granted you will not get that m per Calon if you are Towing that lbs but I’m just saying there is a lot of capability to this vehicle especially with that ground clearance standard all-wheel drive dual function Expo everything that you get in this package MP gallon isn’t too shabby in the grand scheme of things but it is around middle of the pack when comparing it to some of its competitors like the Honda Pilot the Kia tell ride
and vehicles of that sort it’s nothing spectacular but it is not the worst fuel economy out of the lineup now like I mentioned this is only one powertrain for the ascent and other vehicles do offer multiple different powertrains to choose from so obviously those ones are going to have a little bit more options to be had if you are looking inside this three row midsize SUV segment if we take a closer look at the pricing of the Subaru scent the cheapest version is going to be the base model at $now the most expensive is going to be
the touring the top trim with all accessories and dealer installed uh packages the most expensive is going to be the touring at $ now in comparison to some of the other vehicles in this crossover SUV segment an example is tell ride Highlander or the Honda Pilot are three examples and we’re going to talk about those pricing right now the cheapest tell you right for the LX and the most expensive for the SX Prestige xpro now the Highlander is going to be a little bit more expensive in the starting and the
most expensive trim at $now for the Honda Pilot that’s going to have the most expensive pricing in terms of the cheapest trim and the most expensive trim at$ for the sport front-wheel drive so you do not get that all-wheel drive as standard the front-wheel drive pilot and then the most expensive is going to be $delivered to the dealership now if we zoom out from the actual pricing of the vehicles and we just look at the styling and what they have to offer the pilot versus the ascent in terms of styling I
would say they are about even because I don’t really think that either one of them have anything special about them that make them Stand Out amongst the vehicles that are already on the road they are nice looking vehicles but they don’t have any they don’t have anything special that sets them apart from everything else now in terms of technology I would give the oneup to the pilot as it does have that new Honda operating system it’s a lot more intuitive for the user user I think that the Subaru operating system or the
infotainment system is nice when you get used to it but it can be a little bit cluttered at first look so I would give the one up to the Honda Pilot in terms of Technology now comfort and style the Honda Pilot is going to be a little bit bigger on the interior it’s going to feel wider as well as have more interior passenger volume so the Honda Pilot takes that as well or just inches out the Subaru Ascent now for the pricing and the value of the vehicle the Subaru will take the cake on that as you can get into a Subaru recent cheaper at the
bottom and and cheaper at the top end of the trim levels it might not have as much Creature Comforts or as much options as the Honda might but it is a cheaper vehicle and you do get that subar reliability standard all wheeel drive and that big old infotainment system that is up there on the dashboard now in driving Dynamics as well as efficiency the Subaru takes that as well the Subaru does get m per gallon combined and the Honda Pilot only gets m per gallon combined so it just inches the Honda out by just a little
bit if I were to choose a vehicle between the Honda Pilot or the Subaru I would take the Subaru now when you compare the Subaru against the T ride the tell ride is a little bit of a different story in terms of styling the tell ride takes it for me as it does have those Amber lights that KIA is known for for their drls now tell you had went away from that in came back in with those Amber drls back there and you can find those on other Kia SUVs as well and when they’re cruising down the road they have a nice
style to them and you know exactly what kind of vehicle that is if you are up to dat in terms of styling of new vehicles now in terms of Technology the Kia will get a one up as it does have a better operating system in my personal opinion it’s a little more user friendly and a little bit more intuitive to scroll through all the menus and they just make it very simple and don’t clutter it with a bunch of different colors and different fonts and things like you find in the Subaru operating system that is a
personal opinion this is all personal opinion so just take it with the grain of salt I do prefer the key operating system over the Subaru now in terms of pricing driving Dynamics as well as efficiency the Subaru does take the golden star from the tell ride as it does get better miles per gallon at instead of like the tell ride gets it does drive more like a car drives more like a performance SUV than the tell ride does the tell ride although I will give it this is it does ride really nicely the tell ride is a very nice
handling car very nice riding car but I would say driving Dynamics wise the Subaru takes it for me in my personal opinion as it does just feel a little bit more Nimble and a little bit more compact than the teide does now the teide can fit quite a bit more inside of it but the Subaru is sent definitely holds its own in the handling department now pricing you have a cheaper starting price as well as a higher end price for the Subaru scent although the Kia will offer a little bit more luxury at the very top end but that is kind of up to
the buyer whether or not you want to spend that extra $depending on what trims you are comparing at the end of the day the Subaru Ascent is a very very exceptional vehicle in terms of what you are getting for the money and sizing it has a small footprint but has a lot of size inside the vehicle as well as that standard Subaru iite and the technology on the inside if you are someone that’s going out and finding that Adventure trying to find a vehicle that can do everything get you from point A to point B on the weekdays as
well as getting you out in the adventures and finding those dirt roads hiking spots camping spots whatever may be throwing the bikes on top or even a rooftop tent on top that Subaru Ascent has a low roof height so you can throw things up on top of there easily has space on the inside for people and cargo it is overall a great vehicle if you are someone that is wanting kind of a versatile vehicle to get you two and from as well as out on the random weekends to go find nature if you’re looking for something like that the
subar scent is a worthwhile uh vehicle to look at so go ahead and check that out and for that this is going to be my review for the Subaru Ascent I appreciate you guys watching I had a great time with the vehicle and I think the subar ascent is a great vehicle if you are looking for something in that realm with that being said this is going to do it my name is amit singhaniya until the next I will talk to you guys
